Kieran Tierney started for Arsenal in their Champions League tie against PSV last night, featuring as a left winger in what was essentially a dead rubber, with the Gunners already 7-1 up on aggregate.

Despite the routine nature of the match, the Daily Record attempted to stir panic among Celtic fans with their headline: “Kieran Tierney struck by ‘naughty’ PSV challenge as furious Arsenal reaction sparks spiralling Celtic injury panic.”
The article was accompanied by an image of Tierney on the ground, suggesting a serious incident—but in reality, he got straight back up and carried on. It was nothing more than sensationalist fearmongering, designed to push the tired narrative that Tierney is injury-prone.

Since leaving Celtic, Tierney has played at least 24 games per season, excluding international appearances. The year before his loan move to Real Sociedad, he made 36 appearances for Arsenal. While this season has been disrupted by injury, the idea that if he gets tapped, he gets injured simply isn’t true. [Fotmob]
Tierney will return to Celtic this summer on a pre-contract, and as with any key position, Celtic will need quality depth at left-back. That would be the case whether Greg Taylor was staying or whether Jeffrey Schlupp signs a permanent deal.
There’s no need for panic—just another case of certain media outlets trying to create drama where there is none.
