SINGAPORE – A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after an accident with a car in Yishun on the morning of March 12.
The accident occurred along Yishun Avenue 8 towards Admiralty Road East at 7.40am. The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force said on March 13 that a 28-year-old male motorcyclist was taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
In a video posted on SG Road Vigilante Facebook page on March 13, a motorcyclist is seen colliding with a dark-coloured sedan while making a right turn.
Debris from the crash is strewn across the road, and two nearby motorcyclists are seen getting off their bikes to assist the injured rider.
The police said a 31-year-old male car driver is assisting with investigations.
According to [2024 road traffic statistics](https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/traffic-deaths-injuries-hit-five-year-high-increase-in-fatal-accidents-caused-by-speeding) released by the Traffic Police on Feb 21, the number of accidents involving motorcyclists increased by 4.7 per cent, from 3,792 cases in 2023 to 3,969 cases in 2024.
Although motorcycles accounted for only 14.7 per cent of Singapore’s total vehicle population in 2024, motorcyclists and pillion riders were involved in more than half of all traffic accidents and fatalities – at 55.2 per cent and 59.9 per cent, respectively.
