Aston Villa have set up a Champions League quarter-final with Paris Saint-Germain after thrashing Club Brugge 6-1 on aggregate.
Unai Emery’s side won 3-1 in Belgium last week in what was a tight first leg at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
Kyriani Sabbe was sent off early on in the second leg after denying Marcus Rashford a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
Despite that, Brugge were the better side in the first half of the second leg, though they didn’t threaten Emi Martinez.
Marco Asensio and Leon Bailey came on at half-time and combined for the opening goal in the 50th minute.
Asensio scored his second of the night after Ian Maatsen turned in Morgan Rogers’ cross to initially double the lead.
After full-time, Villa players took to social media to react to the win…
Emi Martinez: "Amazing achievement to be in the last 8 of the Champions League. Very proud to be a villain!!"
Matty Cash: "Last eight #UTV"
Axel Disasi: "Quarter final, here we go!"
Tyrone Mings: "Woke up in the Quarter final. let’s keep pushing to make this season even more memorable… What an atmosphere at Villa park."
Ian Maatsen: "Movinnn! Enjoyed that Villans - quarters next"
Marco Asensio: "Let’s keep dreaming"
Morgan Rogers: 'Quarter final, yessirrrrr"
Leon Bailey: "CL Quarter finals baby!"
Marcus Rashford: "Qualified"
