Former Newcastle United owner Amanda Staveley will be in attendance for the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
The Magpies travel to England’s national stadium for the second time in three seasons with the hope that they can end a 70-year wait for a domestic trophy.
Newcastle United take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday and will be backed by over 30,000 fans who will be waving scarves gifted by the club.
Former Newcastle owner Amanda Staveley fought tooth and nail for the club during her two-and-a-half years at the helm alongside her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi – they were the faces of the takeover and always went above and beyond to keep fans in the know about what was going on inside the club.
It came as no surprise to see that Newcastle fans were glad Staveley will be at Wembley for the Cup final after confirming her attendance during an interview last week. Staveley will be joined by Ghodoussi and other members of her family for the historic day.
With Staveley’s attendance at Wembley confirmed, a new report has uncovered how those within the club truly feel about her.

Newcastle United still love Amanda Staveley
Despite leaving last summer, Staveley may still be seen as an unofficial ambassador for the club by fans. The 51-year-old makes sure to post her immense pride about Eddie Howe and his players on social media.
Staveley congratulated Newcastle after beating Arsenal to reach the Carabao Cup final in February. The road to the final hasn’t been the smoothest one for the Magpies, but Monday’s win against West Ham came at the perfect time.

According to the Sun, Staveley’s attendance at the final actually came through the club, with minority stakeholder Jamie Reuben inviting her and Ghodoussi to the final as guests.
Staveley admitted she was ’emotional‘ when Newcastle lost the 2023 Carabao Cup final to Manchester United – hopefully on Sunday there will be tears of joy rather than sorry.
The report also claimed that Staveley is still highly regarded at Newcastle for her work in brokering the 2021 takeover from Mike Ashley, who was an incredibly unpopular figure on Tyneside.
While the Magpies go into the final full of confidence, Liverpool received a fresh injury blow when it was confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the Carabao Cup final after coming off in their gruelling defeat to PSG on Tuesday night.
Newcastle United can make Amanda Staveley promise come true at Wembley
Staveley left Newcastle last summer in the fallout of a bizarre PSR deadline which saw them forced to sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to avoid a points deduction. There were claims that Staveley was forced out of Newcastle in what was truly a bitter end to her reign but her invite to the final suggests otherwise.
The 2023 Carabao Cup final defeat was devastating, the game got away from Howe’s side in the first half with Man United scoring twice. However, the defeat only made those within the club more eager to win a trophy after heartbreak that day.
On the day after the final, Staveley promised Newcastle fans trophies in the future. On Sunday, Newcastle could make good on that promise.
“We will win the Carabao Cup, we will win the FA Cup, we will win the Champions League and we will win the Premier League,” she said.
It’s a huge claim to make but one fans will welcome. Her passionate words show just how optimistic Newcastle bosses are about the future, even if it’s without Staveley at the club.
