Virgil van Dijk 'receives huge contract offer' after making blunt Liverpool admission

Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk is reportedly considering a lucrative £16.8million contract offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. The Dutch defender, who has been instrumental in Liverpool's bid to retain the Carabao Cup and secure the Premier League title this season, is in the final months of his contract with the Reds.

Despite being the club captain, he has yet to agree on a new deal with Liverpool. Al-Hilal, which boasts players like Aleksandr Mitrovic and Ruben Neves, is looking to fill the gap left by Neymar's move to Santos.

According to L'Equipe, Van Dijk has received a substantial offer but has yet to respond as he focuses on the remainder of the season. The 33-year-old, who has won numerous titles with Liverpool, recently bluntly stated that negotiations with his current club are not on hold, and his future beyond this season remains uncertain.

"'I've no idea," he confessed after Liverpool's European exit. "I still have no idea at the moment. Genuinely, I have no idea at the moment.

"Talks aren't on hold, nothing's on hold. I keep saying the same thing. Listen, there are 10 games to go and that's my full focus. If there is news you guys will know it. I don't even know myself. Everyone knows there are some conversations behind the scenes, but that's about it.

"At the moment I don't even know what will happen next year. If anyone says they do know, they're lying to your face."

The futures of Van Dijk's team-mates remain uncertain as well. Mohamed Salah reportedly demands a lengthier contract and higher pay than Liverpool have been willing to propose.

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold is heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid come summer. Los Blancos had already tried their luck with an audacious £20m offer for the defender this past January, only to face rejection from Liverpool.
