Rumour Harder: Schlotterbeck, Stiller on LFC Shortlist

According to Christian Falk of BILD, Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck is of interest to Liverpool FC.

This link seems to be born from the player’s contract being up in 2027, with Dortmund reportedly keen to offer the player a new contract. However, the 25-year-old is seeking a salary of at least €5m per year.

I’m filing this under “link me to Liverpool so I can get a new contract” for now, although Schlotterbeck’s on-ball ability and versatility would be a helpful addition to the squad. As a Dortmund fan, I’m not as convinced about his aerial ability, and he’s the type of busy and aggressive defender that Liverpool have not seemed to prefer lately.

Falk also reported on links with Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller, the 23-year-old German defensive midfielder.

The player recently signed a new deal with Stuttgart that includes a release clause — €36m, that can be activated in the summer of 2026. However, there is also a report from Sky Deutschland (via Insidefootball), who claim that the Bundesliga club have negotiated an option in Stiller’s contract that will allow them to buy out the Liverpool target’s exit clause for €2m. However, this will require the player to agree to that with the club. If Liverpool want to move for the player this summer, they will probably have to beat that figure/
