Nottingham Forest transfer temptation mooted as huge 'interest' in crown jewel revealed

Morgan Gibbs-White’s sparkling form for Nottingham Forest has seen him catch the eye of a number of Premier League rivals, it has been claimed.

The England international has played a vital role in what is proving to be a special campaign for the Reds. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are third in the Premier League table and through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, with Gibbs-White very much at the heart of the team.

The initial £25 million Forest paid to sign him from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2022 has long since proved to be a bargain. But, perhaps inevitably, a string of impressive performances from the 25-year-old has led to speculation about his future as the summer transfer window looms.

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs “showing an interest” in Gibbs-White. Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur also reportedly have him “firmly” on their radar.

The attacker is under contract at the City Ground until 2027, with the club expected to try to get him tied down to fresh terms in the near future. However, CaughtOffside suggest a €60 million (£50m) offer could tempt the Reds to cash in.

The likelihood is it would take significantly more than that for Forest to even consider letting Gibbs-White go. They are well aware just how important he is, particularly as next season could see the club playing in the Champions League.

Gibbs-White has weighed in with six assists and five goals from 24 Premier League appearances this term. Earlier this week, former forward Chris Sutton underlined the importance of the Reds hanging on to their star man.

“Looking to next season if Nottingham Forest get a Champions League place, first of all, the biggest thing for them is keeping hold of all their key players, Gibbs-White being one of them,” he told BBC 5Live’s Monday Night Club. “But the other thing we've seen, Aston Villa are sort of stretched this season squad wise, we've seen Newcastle in the previous season, their squad stretched,

“His importance to Forest and his numbers are up there but I suspect they need a little bit more strength in depth if they're to go again next season. Where the other players, Bellingham and Foden, the likes of those have players who can come in and replace them with a similar level of performance. I don't think Forest do with Gibbs-White.”
