The Pittsburgh Steelers are down another player as wide receiver Mike Williams heads back to his old team, the Los Angeles Chargers. Los Angeles has signed cornerback Donte Jackson and running back Najee Harris on top of Williams.
Williams was traded to the Steelers from the New York Jets for a fifth-round pick just before the trade deadline. He never played that many snaps for the Steelers, instead being relegated to certain moments where the team needed his jump ball prowess.
All in all, in his first year coming back from an ACL tear, Williams took a step back with the Jets and Steelers. He had just 21 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown, which came against the Washington Commanders to help the Steelers pull off that upset.
Williams was the Chargers' first-round pick of Clemson in the 2017 NFL Draft and became a key jump ball wide receiver for the team throughout his career. Now, he goes back to a familiar team and culture that should allow him to regain form.
