West Ham United are ready to make an offer for Udinese centre-back Thomas Kristensen in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old signed for the Serie A outfit in 2023 from Danish club Aarhus and has since established himself as a key player under Kosta Runjaic.

Graham Potter has Max Kilman at his disposal, and the Englishman has been ever-present in the Hammers’ starting lineup this season after costing big money last summer.

Jean Clair-Todibo will also sign permanently at the London Stadium, but the French centre-back has struggled to fit in at the Irons so far.

Potter needs defensive reinforcements at London Stadium

Konstantinos Mavropanos has lost his influence at the London Stadium this season, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave in the coming months.

Potter has relied on Aaron Cresswill in his backline recently, as the English manager has opted to play five defenders at the Hammers, but the 34-year-old is evidently coming to the end of his career.

Vladimir Coufal has also found minutes as a central defender in the last few matches, but his future at the Irons is also up in the air.

If the former Brighton boss sticks with his current defensive system beyond this season, the East London club will seemingly need to add depth to their backline.

While Kilman and Todibo have failed to strike the partnership many fans had hoped for at the start of the season, they undoubtedly possess the quality to bring stability to the Hammers.

The Irons will need to reinforce several departments in the coming months, and whether they will want to spend a significant fee on a new defender remains to be seen.

Tim Steidten spent a considerable amount to bolster the backline last summer, and the Irons’ priority should now be to sign a reliable striker.
