Bucs Execute ‘Dream Come True Move’ with Free Agent

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are beginning to garner a reputation for getting players who appear to be on their last legs in their career and transforming them into quality additions to the roster.

First was Baker Mayfield, and now guard Ben Bredeson.

Initially signing a one-year prove-it deal last offseason from the New York Giants, Bredeson played all 17 regular-season games plus the Buccaneers' playoff loss to the Washington Commanders to develop into a key cog along the offensive line.

And the Buccaneers clearly saw his value, and a three-year, $22 million deal was signed this offseason.

"The group down here, not just the O-line room, the team, the front office, organization in general is just outstanding, and I absolutely love it," Bredeson said. "I was thrilled to be back. I couldn't be happier and a place like Tampa where I love the people, love the city, love the organization, it's a dream come true."

It has been a good few days for the Buccaneers, with Chris Godwin and Bredeson getting their futures sorted, and now the franchise can look ahead to the 2025 season with hope under new coordinator Josh Grizzard.

Two key pieces are back, and the Buccaneers, who have won the last four NFC South titles, feel like a good bet to do it again.

Of course, free agency isn't over, and the franchise could still add some nice pieces prior to the draft, but re-signing your own is a great first step in the Buccaneers' offseason plans.

And for Bredeson, he came here looking to prove himself, he managed that and is now rewarded with career security.
