Bournemouth star hails owner’s ambition – Speaks about CL plans and transfer approach

Bournemouth star Justin Kluivert has hailed the ambition being shown by the ownership group led by Bill Foley and revealed how they convinced him to move to the club.

[Tijdschrift](https://www.tijdschrift.nl/artikelen/ik-zou-mezelf-bij-oranje-op-tien-zetten) provide a full interview with the forward today recently given to ELF Voetbal in which he is full of praise for the club’s ownership.

Bournemouth are currently on an accelerated growth plan under Foley and his team, who took over at the club just before the turn of 2023.

They’ve since pushed forward with their plans for the club, hiring Andoni Iraola, who currently has them 9th and three points outside of the top six, and plans are in place to build a new 25,000-seater stadium to accommodate a growing fanbase.

The future looks bright for the Cherries and Kluivert is certainly impressed by the ambition being shown.

_“It’s great to see how ambitious the club is,”_ he said.

_“How they know how to develop everything. The owner wants us to win European football this season, preferably Champions League. This is also reflected in the purchases that the boss did last summer. And the plans that are on the table.”_

The South Coast has proven to be a real proving ground for Kluivert, who has finally settled at the club after years bouncing around Europe.

He’s now one of the stars of the team after spells with Ajax, Roma, RB Leipzig, AS Roma, OGC Nice and Valencia failed to be the right one for him.

He was instead convinced to head to Bournemouth in 2023 and has revealed the lengths the club went to in order to secure his signature.

_“A delegation from Bournemouth visited Valencia to watch coach Iraola. He was working for opponents Rayo Vallecano. We played a good game; I played well and scored the 1-1. Apparently, they went completely crazy about me that evening,”_ he said.

_“I got a phone call that I shouldn’t be difficult and should also come to Bournemouth, haha. Valencia kept waiting and kept me in suspense. Returning to AS Roma was not an option. They had loaned me out three times. The feeling was gone. It was best for both parties to say goodbye to each other._

_“A good feeling arose in the conversations with Bournemouth, and I am an emotional person. If I had waited longer, more clubs would undoubtedly have come. But I wanted to make a quick decision. Giving security to my girlfriend, who had moved three years in a row and had also come to Rome._

_“Fortunately, it turned out to be a good choice. That stability is clearly reflected in my game this season. Now, after my summer vacation, I was not busy with a new club or the arrangements for a move.”_
