Manchester United’s season has spiralled into disaster, with the team slumping to 14th in the Premier League and facing an uncertain future.
Former captain Wayne Rooney has offered a brutal assessment of the squad, insisting there is no way back without a massive overhaul as he spoke on The Overlap.
He believes up to 15 players need to be offloaded and questioned the mentality within the team.
Asked if the current squad can turn things around, Rooney was blunt: “No, I don’t think so.
“They look lost.
“They look scared.
“Bruno Fernandes is the one who keeps producing.
“He annoys you at times, but keeps producing.”
Rooney emphasized the lack of leadership, adding: “There’s a culture at the club where it’s too easy to lose games and players come out with ‘Onto the next one’ and all that rubbish.
“Just show some character and fight on the pitch.

“It’s bad watching, it hurts.”
The United legend, whose children are in the club’s academy, admitted he still cares deeply about the team’s success, but watching them struggle has been painful.
Rooney also shared that Sir Alex Ferguson always reaches out whenever he loses a managerial job, proving that the legendary coach still maintains a connection with his former players.
Meanwhile, Roy Keane took aim at Sir Jim Ratcliffe, criticizing his handling of the club’s financial restructuring.
The United co-owner has overseen cost-cutting measures that could see 450 staff members lose their jobs, while also planning a £2 billion stadium project.
Keane questioned the approach: “He’s on about saving money at the club, but we know how ex-players and long-serving staff have been treated.
“You have to show loyalty.”
Gary Neville weighed in, stating that Ratcliffe indirectly blamed the Glazers for years of mismanagement, citing £300 million in losses since 2020.
United now face a defining period, with only the Europa League left to salvage their dismal campaign.
