Manchester United add two youngsters for Sociedad clash

Manchester United have made two additions to their Europa League squad ahead of the home clash against Real Sociedad.

The club adjusted its UEFA B list before the deadline for Thursday’s round-of-16 second leg at Old Trafford.

With the tie level at 1-1 after the first leg, the match kicks off at 20:00 GMT.

Tyler Fredricson and James Scanlon have been included and will be hoping to make the matchday squad for a significant night under the lights at the Theatre of Dreams.

Fredricson, a centre-back, previously captained the Under-19s in the UEFA Youth League and was an unused substitute in last month’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Scanlon, a full Gibraltar international, has yet to feature for United’s senior team.

The 18-year-old wide forward has played a key role in Adam Lawrence’s side this season, scoring twice in a 5-1 FA Youth Cup fifth-round victory over Chelsea.

Chido Obi trained with the squad at Carrington on Wednesday but is ineligible for the B list, as he has not yet been at the club for the required two years.

Elyh Harrison, Harry Amass, Habeeb Ogunneye, Jack Fletcher, and Jayce Fitzgerald remain eligible for the competition.
