Enzo Fernandez drops early Chelsea team news hint as Enzo Maresca gives Reece James update

Enzo Fernandez has dropped an early team news hint ahead of Chelsea's match against Copenhagen in the UEFA Conference League. The Blues will host the Danish outfit at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs.

Chelsea sleepwalked to victory in the first leg, defeating Copenhagen 2-1 at the Parken Stadium last week. Reece James, who was operated in midfield, fired the west Londoners ahead shortly after the break - finding the bottom corner from range.

Fernandez later doubled Chelsea's lead before Gabriel Pereira pulled one back for the home side. While Enzo Maresca may be tempted rotate the starting line-up which beat Leicester City at the weekend, the Blues only managed to secure a slim 2-1 aggregate lead.

Nevertheless, Fernandez has posted a pre-match graphic preview of the Copenhagen game to his Instagram story. Historically, that suggests that he'll be involved - in some capacity. Moises Caicedo has also done the same, hinting that he too will start against the Danes.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday afternoon, Maresca was asked what he expects from Copenhagen.

The Chelsea boss said: "I was surprised, as I said last week because I watched many games, they were off the ball always defending with a line of four and then against us, they were in a line of five.

"Even in their match two days ago, they were again in a line of four. The reason why we were a little bit surprised was because of that, but then we tried to adapt. Tomorrow, to be honest, I do not know if they are going to be in one way or another way. We will see tomorrow."

Then, providing a brief injury update, Maresca added: "Cole, Reece [James] and Christo [Nkunku] today has been the first session. Yesterday they were not here and two days ago they had a rest. The reason why is because all of them had some problems but today, they were all back and they were all better."

The Chelsea boss went on: "As I said, yesterday they were not even here. Today they trained with us, and we will see tomorrow if we are going to use some of them."

With that being said, Maresca will be relying on the likes of Fernandez and Caicedo to rise to the occasion. While only few players have posted pre-match previews of the Copenhagen game to their Instagram stories, it does not necessarily mean they will definitely start or, at the very least, play the game.
