The NFL free agency has already given us some potential new additions to the Dallas Cowboys first unit - to go along with the guys we know are back.
To begin the 2025 league year, this is a projected starting lineup for the Cowboys on offense. There are some things to note across the board. ... including the fact that so far in this free agency period they'd added just one new starter.
We'll do offense below, for starters ...
OFFENSE
QB: Dak Prescott
RB: Javonte Williams (signed 1-year, $3 million)
WR: CeeDee Lamb
WR: Jalen Tolbert
WR: KaVontae Turpin (re-signed 3-year, $18 million)
TE: Jake Ferguson
LT: Tyler Guyton
LG: Tyler Smith
C: Cooper Beebe
RG: Brock Hoffman (re-signed ERFA deal)
RT: Terence Steele
A couple of highs, but a few lows here, too.
However you want to rank him, Dak Prescott is an elite-level quarterback in this league (Top 15? Top 10?). Assuming the torn-off-the-bone hamstring is good to go, of course. Next.
The Cowboys addressed a pivotal position on Day 1 of free agency signing running back Javonte Williams. A young, explosive back with high-upside potential at a low price? That works for me.
I would expect Dallas - as Rico Dowdle moves on - to still pursue a running back in the NFL Draft or through free agency for insurance.
Like Dak, there's a big check coming to the Cowboys' WR1. CeeDee Lamb deserves it.
But he can't be the only one catching passes.
Tolbert and/or Turpin are serviceable as a third receiver, but the Cowboys need a starting-caliber target at the No. 2 position. There are a few key names still on the market.
Turpin getting a mid-tier extension tells me they'll use more than just his All-Pro kick return skills.
Wide receiver is also a bulletin-board position with the No. 12 pick in the Draft.
No problems with Ferg at tight end. He is a top-half TE in the NFL at his best.

Things get dicey on the offensive line.
I would expect Smith and Steele to be most likely starters at their current position. Dallas has seen growth from Guyton already, but he needs to make a big jump to become a reliable starter at tackle.
Hoffman and Beebe will be in competition for the starting center job, but both could become interior starters throughout the season. Throw in newly signed Rob Jones (one-year, $4.75 million) for some added depth here, too.
Definitely a lot of question marks around the big uglies, but there's still the Draft and free agency to find as much help as possible for new O-line coach Conor Riley.
