Liverpool Football Club has continued its impressive commercial expansion with the announcement of a new global partnership, following a period of significant financial development despite challenging conditions.
The club recently revealed its financial figures for the 2023/24 season, showing robust growth in commercial revenue despite recording an overall loss due to Champions League absence and rising operational costs.
The 2023/24 financial results demonstrated Liverpool’s commercial resilience, with the club achieving more than £300 million in commercial revenue for the first time in its history.
Despite recording an overall pre-tax loss of £57 million, Liverpool’s total revenue increased by £20 million to £614 million, establishing a new club record.
This growth was supported by several new partnerships, including agreements with UPS, Google Pixel, Peloton, and Orion Innovation, while existing partnerships with Kodansha and Carlsberg were extended.
Building on this commercial success, Liverpool FC has announced a multi-year global partnership with Visit Maldives, making it the club’s official tourist destination partner.
The agreement, encompassing both men’s and women’s teams, aims to drive awareness of the Maldives as a world-class tourist destination while showcasing the country’s diverse activities, rich heritage, and stunning location
Ben Latty, chief commercial officer at LFC, said to liverpoolfc.com: “We’re very excited to welcome Visit Maldives into the Liverpool FC family as our official tourist destination partner.”
“Together we share a passion for creating unforgettable experiences that bring people together in meaningful ways.”
Beyond tourism promotion, the partnership incorporates a strong commitment to environmental protection. Visit Maldives has placed significant emphasis on ocean conservation and sustainable tourism – critical issues for the low-lying island nation, which is particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts and rising sea levels:
“We also share a commitment for being the most sustainable we can be, whether that’s via our award-winning The Red Way programme or Visit Maldives raising concerns about preserving delicate underwater ecosystems,” Latty continued.
“We look forward to supporting each other in these vitally important areas moving forward.”
The addition of Visit Maldives to Liverpool’s global partnership portfolio represents another strategic step in the club’s commercial growth, combining financial benefits with opportunities for positive social and environmental impact while offering unique experiences for the club’s worldwide fanbas
