PHILADELPHIA — One of Philadelphia's biggest (literally and figuratively) sports stars is being honored soon, and not for this work on the field.
Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata will be recognized at the upcoming Philadelphia Music Alliance 2025 Walk of Fame Gala.
The gala will be held at 6 p.m. April 30 at Vie on North Broad Street.
Mailata will be presented the alliance's Philadelphia Award as a representative of the Philly Specials.
For those unaware, the Philly Specials are Mailata, Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson, and retired Eagles center Jason Kelce. The trio have teamed up for three years now with other Eagles players, local musicians, and more for holiday benefit albums.
Funds raised have helped Philly kids get Christmas gifts, fulfilled the wish lists of Philadelphia School District teachers, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the Gender Justice Fund of Philadelphia, Philabundance, and more.
The gala will also honor Bob Geldof for his work in founding Live Aid, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
Inductees of the Walk of Fame this year are Steven Sondheim, Janis Ian, Schooly D, David Ludwig, David Dye, The Orlons, and Settlement Music School.
