Cooper Kupp's revenge tour officially open for Seahawks' taking

It is unofficial official. Cooper Kupp will be released by the Los Angeles Rams when the new NFL fiscal season begins at 1 pm PT. He will likely have a lot of bidders from wide receiver-needy teams, but no team fits that description better than the Seattle Seahawks after the team's offseason moves.

Sure, Seattle still has Jaxson Smith-Njigba [and signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling](https://12thmanrising.com/seahawks-sign-sam-darnold-underwhelming-dk-metcalf-replacement-01jp5qs45x2z) on Wednesday, but MVS has never been consistently productive, so teams are not going to scheme against him. They will against JSN, but Smith-Njigba does not have the size and speed (and proven productivity) of [someone like DK Metcalf](https://12thmanrising.com/seahawks-dk-metcalf-replacement-couldnt-be-clearer-first-wave-free-agency).

In fact, Valdes-Scantling would be more of Metcalf-lite, and he should only be Seattle's third option at receiver while Smith-Njigba is WR1. Adding Kupp would mean Seattle has a good WR2, especially if Kupp can stay healthy, and that only means good things for new quarterback Sam Darnold and Smith-Njigba.

Seattle Seahawks should bring Cooper Kupp home to complete revenge tour

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

But Kupp has another reason he might want to join Seattle if the money is right. That is because the receiver is originally from Washington state, as he grew up in Yakima, and he played college football at Eastern Washington. If he wants to take revenge on the Rams, letting him go, staying in the NFC West, and going back to Washington might be extremely fulfilling for the wide receiver.

Seattle has plenty of money to spend still, as they have been fairly, and traditionally, non-aggressive in free agency so far. Darnold was a good get, but he has only had one good season out of seven in the NFL, and general manager John Schneider took advantage of that. Darnold might not be good in the future, and he certainly will not be so if the quarterback has few options to work with.

Adding Kupp would give the team a wide receiver with a high football IQ, though with a god amount of injuries in his past, but who knows how to get open. The question becomes how much Kupp can get in free agency and how much Schneider wants to spend.

If the last part matters, the Seahawks will be underbid. If Cooper Kupp is more driven by the Rams letting him go in free agency, then that could mean good things for Seattle. For 12s, that last part should be the hope.
