ExWHUEmployee Claims Arsenal Are“Huge Admirers”Of 23 Goal Striker But West Ham Are“Wooing”His Agent

West Ham have been working hard on “wooing” Lille’s Jonathan David, according to ExWHUEmployee.

Speaking on the West Ham Way podcast (quotes via their website), the insider said that the Canadian’s representative was in the stands for the Hammers’ game against Newcastle earlier this week:

“Jonathan David’s agent was in attendance on Monday night, which we understand was the club wooing his team of representatives as we try and land the player as a signing this summer.

“David is known to be a key target for Potter and his team, with him seen as an ideal fit for the system the boss wants to play. The fact he also speaks fluent English and he’s a free transfer, meaning the club can table a lucrative package to their parties to try and strike a deal.”

Ex did, however, say that other teams are also very interested in securing David‘s signature, including a London rival:

“There are, though others really keen, with Arsenal and Barcelona both understood to be huge admirers. So, the chances of the club signing David are still seen as very tough to conclude. One thing is clear, though: the club are really pushing for this. Whether our intentions are successful or a waste of time remain to be seen – only time will tell.”

Several other Premier League clubs have been linked with the West Ham target

Chelsea, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham have also been credited with an interest in David, in addition to the Irons and the Gunners.

The striker’s availability on a free transfer does make him a particularly attractive target. He has already made it known to Lille that he won’t be signing a contract extension.

Why is David in such high demand?

In addition to the fact that the forward will soon become a free agent, he has been in excellent form this campaign, having found the back of the net 23 times in all competitions.

David is about to hit the prime of his career as well, having turned 25 at the start of this year, so his next club will be getting his best years as a footballer.
