Liverpool man can trigger€80m‘game of musical chairs’this summer–Sick of‘gloomy English climate’

Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez has ‘set his sights’ on a move abroad and plans to leave Anfield this summer.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri for [Sky Sports Switzerland](https://www.sky-sport.ch/fr/articles/hugo-ekitike-milos-kerkez-darwin-nunez-aymeric-laporte-anguissa-voici-les-infos-transferts-de-la-semaine/), who reports that Núñez is ‘tired of the gloomy English climate’ on Merseyside.

He states that Núñez wants to join a club ‘closer to his Latin culture’ and has opened the door to a move away from Liverpool as a result.

Atlético Madrid are monitoring the situation closely as they know they have to compensate for Antoine Griezmann’s departure this summer. They’re yet to take any concrete steps towards the Liverpool man, though.

He may be interested in the move, but discussions are not yet advanced and Núñez does not intend to make a final decision until the end of the season.

Tavolieri claims Liverpool are ‘rather closed’ to the idea of the striker departing and do not plan to start negotiations before a transfer fee of €80m.

That would be surprising given the role the Uruguayan has played under Arne Slot this season and a fanbase which has grown increasingly exasperated with him. All indications elsewhere have been that they would be happy to sell up.

Diego Simeone would have to convince Atlético to loosen the purse strings to make transfer happen anyway and until that point the 25-year-old will be ‘nothing more than a dream’.
