Arsenal have made ‘enquiries through their scouts’ for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike ahead of the summer transfer window.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, [via Sky Sports Switzerland](https://www.sky-sport.ch/fr/articles/hugo-ekitike-milos-kerkez-darwin-nunez-aymeric-laporte-anguissa-voici-les-infos-transferts-de-la-semaine/), who reports that they are ‘closely monitoring’ the striker’s situation.
According to his information, Arsenal are following the striker but so far have not sent any signs that they will make an ‘aggressive approach’ for him.
Any move could be dependent on the impending arrival of Andrea Berta, who appears set to become the Gunners new director of football. That’s set to be made official in the coming days and it could change the club’s ambitions when it comes to signing a striker.
A striker is believed to be at the top of their wish list but Ekitike would cost €80m as Eintracht Frankfurt are aware of the interest in him and determined to secure a big fee if he departs.
Ekitike, for his part, considers England as a ‘dream destination’ but wants to ensure he joins a club in the Champions League next season.
Arsenal could certainly offer that but whether they’d be willing to pay the fee, or he’s on Berta’s radar, remains to be seen.
