Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are ready to compete with Liverpool for Feyenoord’s sought-after defender David Hancko in the summer.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, David Hancko could leave Feyenoord, with a host of Premier League giants monitoring his situation. The Dutch giants are open to letting the sought-after defender leave for the right price, as Chelsea and Tottenham had scouts watching the 27-year-old ex-Arne Slot charge and Liverpool target in action this week.
David Hancko was reportedly close to following Arne Slot into joining Liverpool, but so far he has stayed with Feyenoord. The sought-after defender could get his chance in the summer to make a big career move to one of the Premier League sides or even those in other top leagues.
Juventus are interested in the 27-year-old, although the big competition comes from the Premier League as Chelsea and Tottenham scouts were in attendance to watch the defender in action. The observers from the London teams were present at San Siro as Hancko’s Feyenoord side lost to Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
Chelsea have established contacts with intermediaries for the potential chase of David Hancko, as the Blues are looking for an experienced defender to shore up their backline. The 27-year-old ex-Arne Slot charge can play centrally or as a left-back, which makes him a potential replacement for Benoit Badiashile and competition for Levi Colwill.
Tottenham had asked for information alongside Chelsea during the winter transfer window, although the former went in another direction with the signing of Kevin Danso. Spurs are expected to bring in a left-sided defender as a replacement for Ben Davies, as Ange Postecoglou will want someone in that area to deputise or compete with the likes of Micky van de Ven.
Liverpool poses a big threat in David Hancko’s chase
Arne Slot is already pushing to sign Hancko in the summer as Liverpool are in the market for new defenders. The potential exit of Virgil van Dijk does open space in the left centre-back position, while the Reds also lack depth in the position, meaning the club might even bring multiple players for that role. The fact that the 27-year-old ex-Arne Slot charge can also play left-back makes him an all the more interesting target.
There are other clubs from outside of England keen on David Hancko, it may be possible that he chooses to join one of the Premier League sides in the summer. Chelsea and Tottenham would have to ward off the threat posed by Liverpool in this case, as the presence of Arne Slot could be a game-changer in the race for the Feyenoord star.
