Virgil van Dijk has yet to agree a deal with Liverpool
Virgil Van Dijk is out of contract in the summer
Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk is reportedly considering a lucrative £16.8million contract offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. The Dutch defender, currently in the final months of his Liverpool contract alongside Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, could potentially be without a club come summer if no agreement is reached with the Reds.
Van Dijk has been instrumental under manager Arne Slot this season as Liverpool aim to retain the Carabao Cup against Newcastle United on Sunday and convert their strong league position into a Premier League title. Despite being the team's captain, the 33 year old's future at Anfield remains uncertain.
Al-Hilal, who already have former Newcastle striker Aleksandr Mitrovic and Ruben Neves in their ranks, are looking to fill the void left by Neymar's move to Santos. According to L'Equipe, Van Dijk has received the substantial offer but is yet to respond, choosing instead to concentrate on the remainder of the season.
The decorated defender, who has won numerous titles including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup with Liverpool, recently stated that discussions about his future at the club are not currently on hold, leaving his plans beyond this season up in the air.
"I've no idea," he admitted after Liverpool's Champions League defeat to PSG. "I still have no idea at the moment. Genuinely, I have no idea at the moment. Talks aren't on hold, nothing's on hold. I keep saying the same thing. Listen, there are 10 games to go and that's my full focus.
"If there is news you guys will know it. I don't even know myself. Everyone knows there are some conversations behind the scenes, but that's about it. At the moment I don't even know what will happen next year. If anyone says they do know, they're lying to your face."
Meanwhile, several of Van Dijk's team-mates are also in limbo about their futures. Salah is said to want a longer contract offer, while Real Madrid are reportedly keen to bring Alexander-Arnold to Spain this summer.
