Manchester United are officially interested in Fenerbahce defender Yusuf Akçiçek and plan to scout him again against Glasgow Rangers this week.
That’s [according to Sports Digitale](https://x.com/SportsDigitale/status/1900194042018713988) and journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, who cover Manchester United’s interest in the defender today.
[A report from Turkey last week](http://sportwitness.co.uk/manchester-united-official-at-fenerbahce-today-travels-to-istanbul-for-19-year-old/) stated that Manchester United were showing an interest in the 19-year-old centre-back, scouting him in the first leg of Rangers clash with the Turkish side in Istanbul.
That had been preceded by reports that there was growing Premier League interest in the defender, who has slowly been establishing himself under Jose Mourinho this season after making his debut last year.
Fenerbahce vice-president Acun Ilıcalı has since revealed to the Turkish press they’ve received an offer from a Premier League side, insisting that negotiations are underway, but they have no intention of selling their rising talent at this moment in time.
Sabuncuoğlu now provides the latest and insists that Manchester United are one of the sides who are keen on the defender, so much so that they are planning another scouting trip this week before opening talks later in the year.
“Manchester United officially wants Yusuf Akçiçek. In fact, along with Manchester United, one of the five big teams in England has also stepped in for Yusuf Akçiçek,” he said.
“The sports director that Mr. Acun Alıcan said on Ersin Düzen’s program was offer £20m is also the sports director of one of the five big teams.
“But as of now, one of them (who want him) is from France… The other one is Manchester United; two teams officially want Yusuf Akçiçek from Fenerbahçe. The team that wants him from France is not Paris Saint-Germain, but a big team there wants him.
“They will also come to Glasgow to watch. United will send scouts to Glasgow once again.
“Manchester United wants him very much… I expect an official offer of around £10-15m to come out in the summer. United will meet with Fenerbahçe in June.”
