Eddie Howe calls up academy star to Newcastle United first-team training ahead of Carabao Cup…

Newcastle United are finalising their preparations for the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.

The two sides face each other at Wembley on Sunday, with Newcastle United gaining momentum ahead of the final thanks to a win over West Ham.

As for Liverpool, they have had a tougher week. They were dumped out of the Champions League on Tuesday night, losing on penalties to PSG. On top of that, Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up an injury and will miss the Carabao Cup final.

Ben Parkinson involved in senior Newcastle United training

While Arne Slot weighs up how he will cope without Alexander-Arnold, Eddie Howe is putting his players through their paces.

The Magpies’ media team have uploaded a selection of photos from training to their official website, as they prepare for Sunday’s game at Wembley.

The likes of Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes are pictured, as is Newcastle United academy star Ben Parkinson.

The 20-year-old attacker is seen working with the first-team, after recently returning from an ankle injury.

Up until his recent absence, Parkinson has been playing very well for the Magpies’ Under-21s. He has got eight goals in 11 Premier League 2 appearances, while Parkinson was meant to go out on loan in January before injury ruined that plan.

It is great to see the youngster fit again and rubbing shoulders with Newcastle’s senior stars. However, it is extremely unlikely that he will be involved against Liverpool.

While Parkinson is seen in training, it appears he is only working alongside the players that did not start on Monday. Meanwhile, those that did start are only pictured working in the gym.

Newcastle United teenager on the bench vs West Ham

Parkinson, who made his Premier League debut last season, is one of three youngsters spotted in Newcastle training ahead of the Carabao Cup final.

There are also appearances from Leo Shahar and Sean Neave, who appear to becoming regulars at senior level. In fact, Neave was on the bench on Monday night when Newcastle United beat West Ham.

He was an unused substitute at the London Stadium, just like he was earlier in the season when the Magpies faced Birmingham City in the FA Cup fourth round.
