Premier League giants Arsenal will be forced to make do without the contributions of a member of the club’s attacking ranks in their upcoming showdown with Real Madrid.
The player in question? Raheem Sterling.
Wide-man Sterling for his part featured from the off on Wednesday night, as Arsenal welcomed PSV Eindhoven to north London for the 2nd leg of the Champions League Last-16 tie between the clubs.
En route to a 2-2 draw (and 9-3 aggregate victory for Arsenal), the former Liverpool and Manchester City man played a starring role, notching the assists for both of his side’s goals.
Late in the action, however, Sterling was responsible for a needless challenge, culminating in a yellow card.
Owing to an accumulation of bookings, as much means that the 30-year-old is facing up to a one-game suspension, set to be served in the first leg of Arsenal’s upcoming showdown with Real Madrid.
The latter, meanwhile, will also be without the services of a key performer, in the form of Aurélien Tchouaméni.
