No NFL team was worse at running the ball in 2024 than the Las Vegas Raiders were. They averaged just 3.6 yards per carry.
Their failures in the running game are a big reason why the Raiders are a popular pick to select Ashton Jeanty in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, where they hold the sixth overall pick. However, the Raiders have just signed a former Pro Bowl running back.

The Las Vegas Raiders relied on Alexander Mattison, Ameer Abdullah, Zamir White and Sincere McCormick in 2024. They undoubtedly need to upgrade this unit before the 20025 NFL season kicks off.
Yet, according to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Raiders have signed former Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert. While the soon-to-be 33-year-old has never played for the Raiders before, he’ll get a chance to work with Las Vegas offensive coordinator Chip Kelly again. Kelly notably signed Mostert as an undrafted free agent in Philadelphia and brought him with to San Francisco a year later.
Coaching connections aside, Mostert clocked a 4.34-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine coming out of the draft. While he had just 278 rushing yards and two touchdowns last season, Mostert led the NFL with 18 rushing touchdowns in 2023.
Now the Raiders hope Mostert can tap into that 2023 magic as they look to reshape their backfield for 2025, possibly with someone special like Jeanty leading the way.
