'Black Mirror' Season 7 Trailer Dreams a Chilling Little Dream

Black Mirror is prepping to get under our skin again. Netflix released first-look images and a trailer that teases reality-altering AI gadgets, odd activities aboard the U.S.S. Callister and blood. Season 7 of Black Mirror premieres on April 10 and features six episodes.

During Netflix's Geeked Week last year, the streamer and show creator Charlie Brooker dropped a few details about what's next for the hit anthology series and hinted that things will be "deeply unpleasant" and "your anxiety will be tickled." As for the U.S.S. Callister, there's a sequel story to what viewers saw in season 4 of the space-set episode.

The series, a social satire packed with thought-provoking standalone episodes, takes place in a near-future world where technology's role in society has altered humanity. The stories bred from this scenario have equally instilled delight and dread.

Each series installment has featured various themes and storylines, with recent episodes like Beyond the Sea and Joan is Awful striking an existential chord with viewers. Brooker has proven the show has range, and not everything needs to be bleak. Season 3's San Junipero episode is the first of the series to have a happy ending, and it's quite possibly the most beloved of the entire program.
