'Generational talent' breaks silence after links with Arsenal and being spotted watching Man…

Manchester City and Arsenal are both in the race to sign one of the most highly-rated young players in the world this summer.

The upcoming summer transfer window will be a vitally important one for Manchester City and Arsenal.

And the two Premier League giants are seemingly now on a collision course to acquire one of the game’s brightest talents.

Pep Guardiola has a big rebuild lying ahead of him at The Etihad this summer, with as many as eight Manchester City players said to be up for sale.

One of the keys to doing just that will be to acquire some of the best young talents in world football.

Manchester City and Arsenal linked with Sverre Nypan

Manchester City and Arsenal are thought to be leading the race to sign the 18-year-old Norwegian wonderkid (ESPN).

Nypan has been branded as a ‘generational talent’ (The Daily Mail), and he certainly is very special indeed.

It’s little wonder why City and Arsenal want to sign the teenager.

He is clearly a very special player, and already has 13 goals and 11 assists in just 60 games for Rosenborg (Transfermarkt).

The Norwegian is a central midfielder by trade but he can also play in a more advanced position in the number 10 role or even as an auxiliary centre-forward if need be.

Where will he be plying his trade next season though?

Sverre Nypan speaks out after being spotted watching Manchester City

The Rosenborg ace was actually spotted at The Etihad earlier this season in January, watching City’s 3-1 win over Chelsea (Express).

And now Nypan has broken his silence on what the future may hold for him, as quoted by TV2 out in Norway:

“In this transfer window, people talked a lot about me leaving Rosenborg. That’s when you start to think that way yourself. When there are such big clubs involved, it’s a bit difficult to keep a cool head.

“They talk to me first. And show interest, in a way. And then they talk themselves up and tell me how I should fit into their system. It’s a recurring thing from most clubs.”

Then the youngster’s father and agent Arne Nypan delivered his verdict on the situation:

“The information the clubs have about Sverre is quite overwhelming,” he revealed.

“It is at such a level that one club shows clips of Sverre in specific situations when he both has the ball and does not have the ball. Then they transfer it directly to their own team to show how he fits into the team’s game model.”

“Actually, getting out there and meeting people properly when you have the opportunity is just an opportunity you have to take. Being out there and feeling your gut feeling and how you are wanted are two criteria we set high. So, this is as far from a PR trip as you can get.”

So reading between the lines, the opportunity to go and watch Manchester City in the flesh, and meet officials from the club, was one that Sverre Nypan simply had to take.

It still remains to be see whether or not City are able to beat Arsenal in the race to the 18-year-old’s signature this summer though.
