The Dutchman had a tough time last year and spent a significant period of time on the sidelines due to a serious ankle injury.
He returned to action in October but it’s only been this year that he’s managed to force his way back into the starting XI and look like his old self.
According to Cadena SER, De Jong is finally feeling good about life at Barcelona and is ready to renew his contract at the club.
“The Frenkie of old is back,” is the message from his entourage who are also happy to see the midfielder looking far more like his old self.
De Jong’s current contract expires in 2026 but it’s been reported that Barcelona are willing to offer him a new three-year deal and keep him on his current salary.
