Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has blasted the Mavericks for trading away Luka Doncic last month, saying it 'killed the city' as the team's share a home in Dallas.

Doncic was viewed as the cornerstone of Dallas' athletics - more so than anyone else from the Mavericks, or a contemporary from the Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, Dallas Wings, or any of the Division-I schools in the Metroplex.

Lamb may be the incumbent for the face of a Doncic-less Dallas athletic scene, with a few shouts from Rangers fans after winning the World Series in 2023.

His takedown of the Mavericks comes as the franchise has had bad luck with injuries and has slid down the standings since moving Doncic.

'I ain't gonna lie, they killed the city with that one,' Lamb said to YouTuber N3on. 'I wasn't even expecting that.'

'I don't even know what time it happened, but I remember where I was when I saw it and I thought it was fake because I saw it on a tweet and it was just the words.'

The trade was first publicized late in the evening on February 1, many Mavericks fans waking up to the news the following day.

The move sent shockwaves through the NBA, as the Lakers have become legitimate Western Conference title contenders with Doncic taking some of the load off of an aging LeBron James.

Lamb himself saw the Cowboys fail to live up to expectations in 2024, ending the year with a 7-10 record and part ways with head coach Mike McCarthy.

The Cowboys hired Brian Schottenheimer, who was Dallas' offensive coordinator, to replace McCarthy, with many Cowboys fans uninspired by the hire.

Eight days later, Doncic was dealt, adding insult to injury for the proud sports city that Lamb knows the heartbeat of. And it's safe to say Dallas still has not recovered.
