Peter Crouch left ITV's Cheltenham Festival host Oli Bell stunned after making a cheeky remark about his wife, Abbey Clancy.

The ex-Liverpool striker was invitedto chat with Bell on Thursday - the festival's third day. When asked if he'd ever ridden a horse, Crouch responded: "Yeah, I've been on a few horses. Abbey likes to ride."

After a brief pause, he added: "Horses," with the pair erupting with laughter as the double entendre lingered. Crouch went on to say: "I've been thrown off a couple of times," to which Bell assured viewers: "Okay, we'll leave it at that."

Crouch and Clancy started dating in 2006 and married in 2011. Their wedding was held at Stapleford Park in Leicestershire, attended by around 120 friends and family members.

Reflecting on their relationship, former model Abbey previously said: "When we look back at our wedding day, some of the choices we've made, some things we've done in the past, we're like, 'Bloody hell, who were we then?'

"But today? We're still in sync. We've got the same interests and the same things that make us laugh. It's really a happy time for us at the moment. We honestly do everything together, except work - actually even work, because we have our podcast."

Crouch had a successful 20-year career in professional football, starting out in QPR's academy. Despite initial struggles to make his mark, he secured a transfer to Liverpool in 2005 after an impressive season with Southampton.

He lifted the FA Cup during his three years at Anfield and then returned to the south coast with Portsmouth. After a spell at Fratton Park, he signed for his old side, Tottenham, playing in north London for two years before embarking on an eight-year adventure with Stoke. The 44-year-old retired with an impressive tally of 106 goals from 468 Premier League matches and 22 goals from 42 England caps.

"I am [a regular at Cheltenham]," Crouch admitted as he chatted to Bell. "I'll be honest, it's kind of like a football thing. I've played under Harry Redknapp countless times. Obviously, he introduced me to it, and I've been coming back ever since.

"There were a couple of incidents where I remember Harry saying to Jonathan Woodgate we couldn't come. And then he found out Jonathan had organised a helicopter. So, very quickly, that changed and Harry was sitting in the front.

"We had some great days. I always remember coming here and it always being a really great day. And I've always tried to come back since I retired."
