Al Hilal make €20m contract offer
Earlier this season Anfield Watch reported thatbarring some bizarre late hitch then the 33-year-old’s contract renewal would go ahead as planned.
However it appears there is a spanner in the works.
2025 began with no renewal and thenEuropean suitors in Van Dijk were said to be encouraged in reaching out to the Dutchman over contract offers.
And in the background all the while have been Al-Hilal. Now L’Equipe is reporting that the Saudi super club have offered Van Dijk a contract worth a staggering €20 MILLION (£16.7m) net to join them.
Van Dijk is currently earning just over £11m gross at Liverpool - per Capology, meaning the Saudi offer is worth around three times his annual Anfield take-home pay.
“The Dutchman has received an initial offer from Al-Hilal (Saudi Arabia) worth more than €20 million net,” L’Equipe states.
“The Reds captain is considering the move and has not yet responded, preferring to focus on the end of the season, notably with Sunday's League Cup final against Newcastle, and another Premier League title in sight.”
The Netherlands’ captain stated earlier this week that he had no idea whether he’d be at Liverpool next season. But one thing is now for sure.
