Jamie Carragher’s reason for Graham Potter choosing West Ham over Everton has been proven wrong …

Graham Potter could’ve been the man managing Everton, but instead, The Friedkin Group opted for David Moyes.

In another world, The Friedkins could’ve appointed the West Ham boss, but Potter rejected Everton, and Moyes’ appointment was made.

This has proven to be a masterclass from the Toffees ownership, as Everton being eight Premier League games unbeaten speaks for itself.

Whether Potter would’ve made a better suitor for Everton is up for debate but one thing is for certain is that Moyes has brought back the feel-good factor back to Goodison Park.

Now, ahead of Everton’s fixture against West Ham on Saturday afternoon, what Jamie Carragher previously said about Potter’s decision may raise eyebrows.

What Jamie Carragher said about Potter choosing West Ham over Everton

The history between the Hammers boss and the Toffees is clear, as Potter was linked with Everton from September onwards.

However, it wasn’t meant to be and now the two come face to face on Saturday in what is a close encounter near the bottom of the table.

It seems like there is a small rivalry potentially building as Potter is after Everton target Yuri Alberto, showing how their history could grow off the pitch as well as on it.

Well, Carragher speaking to Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football before any appointment had been made by either club does give some serious insight into where the clubs stand now, as he backed Potter for West Ham over Everton.

“I do think that is more of a 50/50 decision,” Carragher said.

“Maybe right now, you’d probably veer more towards West Ham because they’re probably guaranteed to stay in the Premier League next season.

“So I think he’d probably go for West Ham.”

Well, it seems as though the well-renowned pundit has been proven wrong.

Carragher’s reasoning for Potter snubbing Everton has been proven wrong

With anticipation building to a crucial clash in the Premier League, these comments need to be dealt with.

Carragher made the claim back in January, and enough time has passed to prove that he was wrong with his words, as Moyes has manager-of-the-season shouts.

At the time, it had to be said West Ham was more appealing, but Moyes’ impact has proven the pundit very wrong.

All you have to do it look at the Premier League, and although on the same points, Everton are the closer team to Premier league survival.

If Potter had the opportunity again, he might’ve swayed the way of Everton, especially as it looks to be an exciting future under The Friedkins.

Well it seems like if the chance came for Everton to replace Moyes for Potter, it would be a swift rejection, as it’s clear bragging rights are on the table for Saturday.
