Orri Oskarsson has been tipped for big things.

The Icelander made his professional debut as a 13-year-old, turning out for Grotta when he came on as a substitute in the 2018 match against Höttur.

And if that wasn't impressive enough - he scored twice in a 5–0 victory. It's that kind of goalscoring instinct that has seen many tip Oskarsson, now 20, for the very top.

The striker has traded the frozen north for San Sebastian via Copenhagen - but in the summer he could have rocked up in Manchester as Pep Guardiola searched for Erling Haaland's back-up.

According to The Athletic, City were firm admirers of the Icelander.

Oskarsson turned out against Guardiola's side in the Champions League's Round of 16 in 2024 - where his side were dumped out 6-2 on aggregate.

The Icelandic international had been tipped to leave Denmark last summer - with other Premier League teams pursuing Oskarsson, while the likes of Porto and Real Sociedad were also in the frame for his signature.

And it was the latter that secured his services.

He has netted three goals in La Liga this season - a brace against Valencia and a consolation goal against Osasuna in January.

However, he has been more potent in Europe - there have been goals against Viktoria Plzen, POAK and Midtjylland.

Oskarsson came close against the Red Devils last week, and probably should have scored as Ruben Amorim's side hung on in northern Spain.

The Red Devils are undefeated in Europe this season - and they held Reala to a 1-1 draw in San Sebastian as they get ready to welcome them to a cold and wet night in Manchester.

United will be looking to build on their couple of draws against Reala and Arsenal with a win on Thursday evening.
