Head coach Ruben Amorim revealed Ayden Heaven's performances in training and his recent cameo appearances make him worthy of a full Manchester United debut in tonight's clash with Real Sociedad.

Heaven joined United from Arsenal at the beginning of February and made his debut off the bench against Fulham in the FA Cup a little over a week ago, replacing Harry Maguire before extra-time.

The centre-back made his second appearance for the club against his former side on Sunday, coming on at half-time to replace Leny Yoro who has been ruled out of tonight's game and Sunday's trip to Leicester City.

Heaven made just one senior appearance during his Arsenal career, coming off the bench in a 3-0 win over Preston North End in the League Cup, meaning tonight's game marks a first competitive start of his senior career.

Amorim told MUTV: "When you prove [yourself] in training and in games, you are an option to play any kind of game. We want to show our confidence in any player of our squad, and with all the problems that we have had in these last weeks, everyone has to be ready to cope with the games.

"He is doing really well and I am really excited to see him."

Rasmus Hojlund has joined Heaven in being drafted into the starting XI this evening after he also started the draw with Arsenal on the bench. He will be determined to end his 20-game run without a goal.

"We need to help Rasmus a little bit more because he is helping a lot in everything he does for the team," Amorim added. "You can feel that he is lacking a little bit of confidence, but that is normal when you are a striker.

"When you are a striker, you need goals to be confident. We need to help Rasmus because he is helping us a lot."
