Manchester United ready to offload ten players after Amorim approval, some big names feature

Ruben Amorim has reportedly approved the departure of as many as ten players in the summer transfer window ahead of a summer rebuild for Manchester United.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United will embark on a rebuild of the first-team squad in the summer transfer window. That will unlikely begin before the Red Devils offload several players, and Ruben Amorim has given the green light for as many as ten first-team footballers to depart from Old Trafford.

Several players will become free agents, as Tom Heaton, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans will see their contracts expire on July 1. Lindelof, in particular, has piqued the attention of several well-known outfits, with former club Benfica and a few Premier League sides showing interest in the Swedish international. Meanwhile, Evans and Heaton are in the twilight of their careers.

Christian Eriksen and Casemiro do not have a future at Manchester United either, with the two experienced midfielders becoming bit-players for the Red Devils in the 2024/25 season. Amorim is eager to rebuild the midfield unit at Old Trafford, and offloading the two high-earning veterans will kick-start the procedure.

The most high-profile departure might see Marcus Rashford ending his long association with the Red Devils. The English international joined Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season before the winter transfer window shut down. Rashford has hit the ground running at the West Midlands club, providing four assists in nine games thus far.

While the Englishman has yet to find the back of the net at his new club, he has rediscovered much of his lost form. So, it is hardly surprising that several European bigwigs, including Bayern Munich, have shown interest in the 27-year-old attacker. However, Rashford’s excellent form will not earn him a way back at Old Trafford.

Two other loanees have likely played their final games for Manchester United, with Amorim ready to sanction the departures of Antony and Jadon Sancho. Finally, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund will be the other high-profile exits, with the duo struggling to stamp their authority at Old Trafford.

Mount has struggled with fitness issues since sealing a big-money move from Chelsea. On the other hand, Hojlund’s form and stock have plummeted, with the Danish international failing to find the back of the net in nearly two dozen matches. So, these ten players will likely leave Manchester United, although it is unclear what their market will be in the coming months.
