Raiders TE Leaves for Super Bowl Champion in Free Agency

The Las Vegas Raiders struck gold last April when they selected tight end Brock Bowers with the No. 13 pick in the NFL Draft. Many felt that the team made a critical error drafting Bowers because the organization used a second-round pick on Michael Mayer, another tight end, the year before.

Bowers quickly put those notions to rest by having a rookie campaign of epic proportions and leaving the rest of the tight ends on the roster in his shadow. Veteran tight end Harrison Bryant was one of those players, and on Thursday, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported that he was signing with the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal worth up to $2 million.

Bryant is a five-year NFL veteran who was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2020 and spent four seasons with the franchise until moving to Las Vegas last year on a one-year deal. He filled in for Mayer at times last season and finished his lone campaign with the Raiders with nine catches for 86 yards.

While Bryant will be the backup to Dallas Goedert in Philadelphia, there is more of an opportunity for him to earn playing time with the Eagles. At the very least, he'll get to be a part of a special offense that has a chance to win another Super Bowl in 2025, which he might not have been able to say if he stayed in Las Vegas.
