Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly demand over £50 million to part ways with Richarlison in the summer transfer window, with the price tag posing a problem for Everton.
According to a report by Football Insider, Richarlison is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window, with the Tottenham Hotspur forward emerging as a target. The North London club will demand over £50 million to part ways with the Brazilian international, which poses a problem for the Merseyside club.
Richarlison and Tottenham travails
Richarlison has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Everton in a deal worth around £60 million in July 2022. The South American attacker’s arrival seemed like a coup for the North London outfit, considering his exploits for the Toffees. However, he has blown hot and cold in the last two and a half years.
While fitness issues and poor form have plagued the 27-year-old throughout his stint with Tottenham Hotspur, he has become a bit-part player for the North London club this season. The former Everton talisman has managed only 545 minutes of game time across 14 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with three goals and one assist.
However, the Brazilian international attacker’s stock in the market remains reasonably high, with Brazilian clubs and Saudi Pro League outfits pursuing him for several transfer windows. Everton will aim to beat the competition to the Tottenham attacker’s signature heading into the summer transfer window.
Everton return on the horizon?
Everton’s interest in Richarlison makes sense. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s long-term future. The English striker has yet to sign a new contract with Everton, and he might depart from Goodison Park as a free agent.
In addition, Everton will unlikely complete a permanent move for Jack Harrison amid his struggles in the 2024/25 season. So, the Tottenham forward is a viable target for the Merseyside club. However, the North London outfit’s asking price of over £50 million poses a problem for Everton.
Everton will unlikely have the funds to afford a deal worth over £50 million to re-sign the Brazilian international in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if the Toffees convince Tottenham to reduce the asking price for the 27-year-old’s signature, considering the player’s reported desire to return to Merseyside.
