Liverpool and Arsenal are expected to battle it out for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said that the two clubs “will be in the mix” for the Swedish international, but it will cost “more than” €90m (£75m) to secure the player’s services:
“Alexander Isak is the priority target for Arsenal, but also, Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation, so for sure, Liverpool and Arsenal will be in the mix for the player. It really depends on what Newcastle want to do in terms of an eventual price for the player.”

“If you talk to Newcastle today, they insist that the player is untouchable and not for sale, but when these clubs arrive with important proposals, we have to see what kind of number they will give them. Forget about €70m, €80m, €90m; it must be more than this to convince Newcastle.”
“Arsenal will be there. Liverpool will be there. For Liverpool, it will be a busy summer, but remember what I told you about Darwin Nunez. He is expected to leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window, and Alexander Isak is one of the names they have on the list.”
Liverpool may have to break their transfer record
The highest fee that the Reds have paid for a player is the £85m spent on Nunez back in the summer of 2022. Reports suggest that Newcastle may hold out for as much as £150m for Isak.
You can’t see the Merseyside club being prepared to go as high as that to snap up the forward but they will have to be willing to smash their transfer record, at the very least
Isak has been in outstanding form
The 25-year-old has found the back of the net 22 times in all competitions this season, including against Liverpool in the 3-3 draw back in December.
After recovering from an injury to start against West Ham on Monday night, Isak is expected to be named in the eleven when Newcastle take on the Reds in the Carabao Cup final this weekend.
