Newcastle United once again linked with £50m Nottingham Forest man as summer options assessed

· March 13 2025, 21:30

When it comes to Newcastle United's transfer plans, we often see the same names popping up time and time again. Things can go quiet on a player for a while, but they will return.

That is the case with Nottingham Forest's forward Morgan Gibbs-White who has been linked with the Magpies several times over the past couple of years.

The links were perhaps at their strongest after Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Gordon linked together with the England U21s as they lifted the European Championships.

During the recent clash between Forest and Newcastle, there was a moment of the two sharing a joke together, which suggests that we could deploy Agent Gordon to grease the wheels if our interest is genuine.

Newcastle could make a move for £50m-rated Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest

Give Me Sport are now claiming that Newcastle could try to land Gibbs-White this summer should the funds be available, however they do say that Nottingham Forest would be unlikely to budge on any offers below £50 million.

Gibbs-White has been a big part of Nottingham Forest's wild assault on the Premier League this season, with 11 goal contributions in 24 appearances.

The 25-year-old plays as an attacking midfielder for Forest, but he can be deployed out on the right, which is a problem area for Newcastle that has to be solved this summer.

Where would Morgan Gibbs-White sit on Newcastle's list of targets?

We know there's an interest in Gibbs-White from Newcastle, otherwise these persistent rumours wouldn't keep popping up, but as for where he sits on the ever-growing shopping list, we have no idea.

Even the report by Give Me Sport doesn't seem too sure of itself in terms of how active Newcastle will be in their pursuit of Gibbs-White.

Also, £50 million seems like a low bar for Forest to set for a player so important to their success this season, especially given he's only 25 and English. That's usually a licence to print money for Premier League clubs.

We'll wait and see on this one but we suspect that Newcastle's priorities lie elsewhere for now.
