Seahawks Draft: An updated look at 2025 picks after DK trade

The Seattle Seahawks officially announced the trade of wide receiver DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, clearing up exactly what the swap entails.

DK Metcalf, Geno Smith share farewells to Seattle Seahawks fans

The Seahawks netted Pittsburgh’s second-round pick (No. 52 overall) and a seventh-rounder (No. 223) for Metcalf and Seattle’s sixth-rounder (No. 185).

When the trade was first reported, ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the teams were swapping sixth- and seventh-rounders. Since Pittsburgh did not have a sixth-round pick, it indicated the Seahawks sending a sixth-round pick to Pittsburgh while receiving seventh-round pick in exchange. But it was unclear which seventh-rounder it was due the Steelers having three of them at the time. The No. 223 overall pick is the highest of the three.

The announcement came on the same day Seattle made its trade of quarterback Geno Smith to Pete Carroll’s Las Vegas Raiders for a third-round pick (No. 92 overall) official.

The Seahawks also made the signings for quarterback Sam Darnold, wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, offensive lineman Josh Jones and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence official Thursday.

With the picks added in the Metcalf and Smith trades plus three compensatory picks that the Seahawks were awarded Tuesday, the team now holds 10 picks for the 2025 NFL Draft.
