Chiefs Predicted to Land Dynamic Weapon for Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are still feeling the sting of their Super Bowl blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. That sting does not leave until a new season gets underway and the hunger to get back to the big game returns.

So far this offseason, the Chiefs have been pretty busy.

In free agency, Kansas City has added pieces like cornerback Kristian Fulton, running back Elijah Mitchell, and offensive tackle Jaylon Moore. They could still look to add another playmaker on the offensive side of the football.

Giving Mahomes more weapons is always a good investment. Right now, the Chiefs have a couple of talented weapons, but one more addition would be ideal.

With that in mind, a new prediction has been made for Kansas City. In the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, they have been projected to end up landing a dynamic piece for Mahomes.

Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA Today is predicting the Chiefs to end up landing Ohio State standout wide receiver Emeka Egbuka with the No. 31 overall pick in the first round.

"The offensive line retooling looks to be complete after the trade of Joe Thuney and signing of Jaylon Moore to take over at left tackle. But if Kansas City is intent on making life easier for Patrick Mahomes after his Super Bowl pummeling, it should take a long look at Egbuka, who can create consistent separation and keep the offense moving with his smooth route-running and sure hands."

Egbuka is coming off of a 2024 season with the Buckeyes that saw him help lead a national championship run. He was an integral piece of the offense and a big-time playmaker.

Throughout the course of the year, he caught 81 passes for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Currently, Kansas City has Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Hollywood Brown at the top of its wide receiver depth chart. Egbuka could certainly create some playing time for himself.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com has made an intriguing comparison for Egbuka. He expects the Ohio State wideout to be a similar player to Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

If that comparison were to end up becoming a reality, the Chiefs' offense would take a huge leap forward.

Kansas City should take a shot on Egbuka if he's available at No. 31 overall. There is a good chance that he will be selected before that pick, but if he's available, the Chiefs should bring him in for Mahomes.
