One Liverpool star is set to receive his first international call-up almost two years after making his debut for the club.

Several Liverpool players will be joining their respective national teams in the coming days when the March international break commences.

The upcoming international break is the last for the season and will run from March 17 to 25.

Liverpool’s last fixture before the break comes up this weekend when they take on Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.

After that, the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Andy Robertson, Ibrahim Konate, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and the club’s fit senior players will join up with their respective national teams for upcoming international games.

However, the senior players are not the only ones expected to leave for national team camp in the coming days. Many of the club’s youngsters are also expected to be called up for the youth teams this month.

One Liverpool midfielder has received his first international call-up. The player in question is James McConnell, who has been called up to join the England U20 squad for fixtures against Portugal and Switzerland.

It is surprising that this is McConnell’s first call-up to the youth team, given the midfielder’s quality and experience. The 20-year-old has been a popular name among Liverpool’s senior squad.

He often trains with the first-team squad and has made 14 appearances for the Red’s senior team, including starting in the Champions League this season.

Liverpool coach Arne Slot is a fan of McConnell and personally requested that the Liverpool midfielder remained at the club in January desire several loan interests.
