Patriots add K’Lavon Chaisson to edge rush on reported 1-year deal

A former No. 20 overall pick will be joining the pass rush in Foxborough.

The New England Patriots have agreed to terms with outside linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson on a one-year, $5 million deal, as reported Thursday by NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Chaisson, 25, entered free agency after setting career bests with the Las Vegas Raiders across 15 games last season. He totaled 32 tackles, five sacks as well as the first forced fumble and interception of his NFL run in the process.

A national champion out of LSU, Chaisson entered the league with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round of the 2020 draft. A year after his option was declined, he departed from the organization that filled out his card and signed with the Carolina Panthers last March. But the 53-man roster deadline that followed saw the 6-foot-3, 245-pound edge defender released.

Chaisson moved on to the AFC West from there. He joined the Las Vegas practice squad in September and was promoted to the active roster as the calendar turned to October.

A veteran of 72 NFL games, including 15 starts, Chaisson stands with 105 tackles and 10 sacks to go with his initial turnovers. His career has spanned 1,852 snaps on defense and 371 snaps on special teams.

The 2025 league year officially began Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
