"He didn't put me in that shell," Sweat said.
"Your whole career, you feel slept on," he added. "Me being a fourth rounder, I felt like no matter how well I played no matter what I did, I never got that opportunity."
The comfort level goes both ways; asked about his history with Sweat (and fellow Eagles free agent-turned-Patriot Milton Williams) at the Scouting combine, Gannon acknowledged with free agency, "that decreases the unknown with me."
Sweat now leads an outside linebackers room with the re-signed Baron Browning, former second-round pick BJ Ojulari, Zaven Collins and Xavier Thomas.
He comes off a Super Bowl in which he had 2½ sacks of Patrick Mahomes, and laughed about how the gameplan was simply "Let's go get Mahomes."
"That's how I want every game to be. That's how I hope it continues to be."
Maybe he can get the Cardinals to a Super Bowl too. He said he never really got to fully enjoy the win, heading quickly into free agency not long after the parade in Philadelphia.
Getting to a second Super Bowl with Gannon and Rallis – that group came up just short against the Chiefs in a game played on Sweat's new home field – would be one way to feel that joy again.
Perhaps he'd embrace the spotlight.
"You never know if you're really gonna be happy," Sweat said, "but I just wanted to be in the position where I think I'm gonna end up being happiest."
#### CARDINALS SIGN TWO, BRING IN SAMUEL FOR VISIT
The Cardinals signed linebackers [Akeem Davis-Gaither](/team/players-roster/akeem-davis-gaither/) (two years) and [Mykal Walker](/team/players-roster/mykal-walker/) (one year) on Thursday. Both can play special teams, and Davis-Gaither is expected to challenge for a starting job if veteran Kyzir White does not return.
The Cardinals also reportedly brought in veteran cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. for a visit. Samuel, coming off a shoulder injury, played just four games for the Chargers last season.
