Crystal Palace are eager to keep hold of Adam Wharton at the club ahead of the summer amid growing interest in the midfielder.
According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace hoping to resist offers coming in for key midfield talent Adam Wharton. The likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid are few of those interested, with the Eagles keen to keep hold of the 21-year-old Premier League midfielder for at least another season.
Crystal Palace did take a huge gamble when paying a hefty fee for Championship midfielder Adam Wharton in January 2024. The decision has paid off in a big way as the 21-year-old Premier League midfielder is now one of their key stars under Oliver Glasner.
Wharton was also one of the four Crystal Palace stars who made it to the England squad for the Euros, the most from any club in the Premier League. While he did not have much game time under Gareth Southgate, Glasner continues to hold him in high regard, as the 21-year-old has restored himself to the starting lineup after missing chunks of the season with fitness issues.
With his improved performances for Palace, Wharton has already begun garnering massive interest from elsewhere with Real Madrid and Liverpool among those keen. Should it come to making offers, the Eagles will demand a hefty fee given the midfielder is tied to a contract until 2029.
Manchester City are also interested, although it’s the interest from Real Madrid and Liverpool that could get the midfielder’s attention. However, Paace have other plans brewing in the background, as they plan to keep hold of the 21-year-old, albeit for another season.
Crystal Palace want to keep Adam Wharton
Palace are planning intricately towards what could be a tricky summer window. Several of their stars are being linked with a move away including Marc Guehi, with massive interest as well as Jean-Philippe Mateta. The duo may have the company of Eberechi Eze, also on the radars of top clubs, meaning losing those players as well as Wharton could significantly weaken Glasner’s squad.
Manchester United are interested in Mateta after his goalscoring exploits under Glasner, with Palace demanding a huge fee for the player. With some certainties emerging in the background about the immediate future of a few stars, it would be in Palace’s best interest to keep hold of a key star like Wharton.
