Marvin Harrison Jr. was one the most exciting players in the 2024 NFL Draft. The son of an NFL legend was a superstar at Ohio State, and was the 4th-overall pick in the draft, the first non-quarterback off the board.
Throngs of Cardinals fans surely wanted to buy the jersey of their new franchise player. They weren’t able to do so, due to a lawsuit, but that’s now changed.
Why couldn’t fans buy a Marvin Harrison Jr. jersey? To simplify, Marvin Harrison Jr. and sports apparel genius Fanatics agreed to a term sheet when he was at Ohio State. Fanatics claimed that Harrison Jr. didn’t fulfill the terms of that term sheet, while the wideout claimed that he wasn’t bound to the terms of the term sheet, and that his dad signed the term sheet, anyways. During the disageement, MHJR told Fanatics not to produce his jerseys as Fanatics sued Marvin Harrison Jr.
More or less, that led to his jersey not being available for purchase, much to the chagrin of Cardinals fans. But, the legal dispute is now over. Here’s Pro Football Talk with more.
Via Josh (not John) Weinfuss of ESPN.com, the legal dispute between Harrison and Fanatics has been resolved. Terms of the settlement weren’t released.
Here’s an important one — Weinfuss reports that Harrison jerseys will be available “pretty soon.”
“The dispute between Fanatics and Marvin Harrison Jr. has been resolved,” a Fanatics spokesperson told Weinfuss. “The parties are pleased to have resolved this matter, and looking forward to a productive working relationship going forward.”
Harrison had a solid rookie season though maybe not as big of a season as many thought he would have. He finished with 62 catches for 885 yards and 8 touchdowns. That’s a solid year, but many expected him to be one of the league’s best receivers from day one after a dominant career as a Buckeye.
Expect him to have a bigger year next year, and expect to see some of his jerseys in the stands.
