After losing Victor Wembanyama to injury, now the Spurs will see their newest star also be sidelined for the rest of the 2024/25 season. De’Aaron Fox will undergo surgery to fix a tendon issue in his left pinky finger, the team announced.

The news of the surgery is not surprising. Fox suffered the injury during training camp with the Kings but played through the pain in hopes of chasing a postseason spot. After being traded to San Antonio, he continued to delay the procedure while trying to help a team missing Wembanyama get into the play-in and develop chemistry with his new teammates. With San Antonio currently 4.5 games behind the 10th spot in the West, it makes sense for him to go under the knife now.

The surgery will be performed in Los Angeles on Tuesday and he’s expected to be ready for training camp, per the Spurs’ press release.

Fox averaged 19.7 points, 6.8 assists and 1.5 steals in 17 games in San Antonio.
