TNT Sports expert Paul Scholes believes it is time for Manchester United to bid farewell to Old Trafford after the unveiling of plans to build a new 100,000-capacity stadium.
United have played at Old Trafford since 1910 and it is currently the second-largest football ground in the country, behind Wembley Stadium in London.
Scholes won 11 Premier League titles as a player at Old Trafford, but he believes it is time for the club to move on.
"I was quite excited about it, obviously this stadium holds a lot of happy memories for me," he said on TNT Sports ahead of United's UEFA Europa League clash with Real Sociedad.
"But look, I have played in some of the greatest stadiums in the world. You look at the Santiago Bernabeu and the Nou Camp, the San Siro, they've got great history.

"This place has got that type of great history about it as well, but I think it is time that Manchester United caught up stadium-wise.
"As much as it will be sad to say goodbye, I think the time is right to move to a new, better, bigger, brilliant stadium that it looks like this one is going to be."
The state of Old Trafford has been called into question in recent years following several high-profile roof leaks.
Scholes said it was exciting to see the co-owner of Manchester United, Jim Ratcliffe communicating with the club's fanbase during a busy week.
"I do \[like the look of it\], it looks fantastic," he added. "If it is deliverable, I don't know how much it is going to cost. If that money can be raised I don't know but I hope so.
"I think it has been an exciting week in some ways, an owner actually communicating with the fans and the people of Manchester, which has not happened for quite some time now.
"I know they are only words and things need to be proven, but there were some exciting things in there.
"I always think the team is the most exciting thing and the most important thing."
